Terracotta clay pottery was still used well into the 20th century. Even today, you might still find traditional dutch boozes in clay bottles. These are all modelled after paintings or still existing antique pieces. The color of the terracotta was rarely uniform in the earler pottery, because the clay was hand mixed before it was formed and baked.
