Antler Axe (NHMW-PRAE-20.542)3D Model
This is a 3D scan of a Neolithic tool made from a naturally shed red deer antler. The axe was found in Weyregg I at Lake Attersee in 1893 and became part of the nowadays NHMW collection. The preserved base and shaft portions of the antler show clear signs of human processing and careful crafting into a functional axe head. This tool dates back to the 4th millennium BC and demonstrates highly developed prehistoric craftsmanship.
