A soil monolith of the Apt series.

The Apt series consists of very deep, well drained soils formed in clayey colluvium and residuum derived from sandstone and siltstone. Apt soils occur on summits, footslopes, and toeslopes of mountains. Slopes are 2 to 50 percent. The mean annual precipitation is about 75 inches and the mean annual temperature is about 51 degrees F.
