This haut-relief (high relief) depicts Tellus Mater (Mother Earth) and is an allegory of the prosperity during Augustus’s reign (27 BC-AD 14). The nurturing Earth is portrayed alongside two young women, personifications of Air and Wind. The four elements are represented: air (birds, wind), water (waves), fire (dragon) and earth (grain, cow, ewe).
