Χάλκινη προτομή γρύπα

Προτομή γρύπα ως διακοσμητικό επίθημα στο χείλος χάλκινου λέβητα. Το μυθικό τέρας με μορφή αρπακτικού πτηνού είχε συμβολικό σκοπό την απώθηση των κακών πνευμάτων. Στη προτομή έχει εφαρμοστεί η τεχνική της χύτευσης. Τα μάτια ήταν ένθετα. 8ος-7ος αιώνας π.Χ.

Bronze griffin protome

Griffin protome as a decorative attachment on the rim of a bronze cauldron. This mythological creature in the form of a bird of prey had the symbolic purpose of warding off evil spirits. In the protome the casting technique was applied. The eyes were inlaid. 8th-7th century BC.
