This fragment was identified during the survey as having come from a section of rebuilt wall above the original east window. The restoration of this section of church occured around 1865 and it is likely this is the capital or base of a column which was used in the L. medieval doorway or a side window to the chancel in the 14th C. the fragment may be 12th or 13th C in date. This project is funded by The Community Monuments Fund Awarded by The National Monuments Service, Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage. Supported by Old Tuam Society, Galway County Council, TheHeritage Council and Galway Community Archaeology Project.
