Architectural design has many different arch shapes. These are usually defined using the curve of a circle, or the conjuction or intersection of different circles.
Here are a few ‘round arch’ shapes:
- segmental; and
The round arch shapes are illustrated with 3 examples each from Scottish architecture. Lastly, a building facade with all three designs present is shown.
