More model informationOn a hill, and guarding the road that linked the coast with Castile through the Saja Valley, stands the Castle of San Vicente, in Argüeso, within the municipality of the Brotherhood of Campoo de Suso (South of Cantabria, Spain). It is a medieval fortification of military character and Gothic style, which represents the most outstanding and oldest example of rock castle in Cantabria. Built during the XIII, XIV and XV centuries, it was the emblem and fortress of the lordship of the House of Mendoza in the highlands of Campoo.
