The remains of this sorted bronze statue were found, swept by a flocd, in a side di near Petra’s city centre; its original location is therefore cifficult to determine. This is the only krown large cast-bronze statue from Petra; melting metal objects during difficult times was a common practice in ancient times. The statue portrays Artemis, the Greek goddess of the hunt. She was probably portrayed holding down an animal with her knee.
