More model informationThis is the Princess Mary Gift Fund box. It is an embossed brass box that was given as a Christmas present to those sailors and soldiers serving during Christmas in 1914. This gift was a global effort spearheaded by Princess Mary, who expressed the wish that ‘every sailor afloat and every soldier at the front’ should have a gift for Christmas 1914. The box was initially specified to include tobacco, cigarettes, a Christmas card from the princess, and a photograph of the Princess as well as the King and Queen.
