An artist nook in an old Victorian house. I wanted to give it a cozy fall evening feel, as if the artist had just stepped away for a moment and her cat had settled into her chair. I also love the idea of an artist who really loves plants (and can grow them, unlike myself), so her space is filled with houseplants. This piece gave me a chance to practice handpainting textures and to be a bit more organized and efficient with my maps. I used a combination of traditional UV maps, tiled textures and a gradient texture for smaller items like the books. I started with an idea of a highly stylized diorama but my painting became more realistic over time, so the end result is a bit uneven in the details. I am happy with the overall effect of the diorama and am excited to do more handpainting in the future.
