Assignment - Weapon Design - Pen Dart Gun

For our Weapon Design project, I decided to go with a fantasy theme to inspire my design. Our prompt was to create a weapon using a common non-weapon item, and from this came a fountain pen dart gun. There is a dial on the back of the device that changes the inky liquid inside to a poison, a sleep agent, a healing liquid, and regular writing ink. My goal was to keep a rounded design, display small details in the metal frame, and have this piece animation ready. I set up an animation loop in Maya, using the Ocean Shader for the liquid, that turned the dial, changed the ink color, and shot the dart through the pen. Due to difficulties exporting the Ocean Shader, I replaced it with a static texture for upload. I learned a lot since working on this project, and if I were to go back and do it again I would focus on making the metal work more extravagant, making the dirt in the crevices stand out more, and getting a spot on liquid texture that does not rely on a Maya shader.
