More model informationOn May 24th 1886, three peasants observed fall of 1.7kg stone fall into a cornfield at Tordandrea, 7.5km southwest of Assisi, and unearthed this H5 chondrite immediately. Forsterite (Fa17.90.3) and enstatite (Fs16.00.3) are the two main minerals found in the Assisi meteorite. Troilite, chromite, and nickel-iron were also identified. Some of the opaque grains have yellowish brown limonitic streaks surrounding them that could be trace amounts of lawrencite that was most likely created after the fall.
