More model information77 ¾” wide by 88 ¾” gypsum alabaster relief from was 3D scanned at 50 microns and also photographed for photogrammetry. The complete model was digitally restored, removing the t-shape scar that was an earlier attempt at conservation. Full resolution data was then CNC milled and a full scale replica was cast in concrete and painted to recreate the color and unique organic surface patterns of the stone.
Provenance: The Northwest Palace, Nimrud, Iraq. Sir Austen Henry Layard (1817-1894), excavated 1840s. Dr. Henri Byron Haskell (1830-1864), American missionary in Mosul, acquired from the above, 1859; Virginia Theological Seminary, Alexandria, Virginia, acquired from the above, 1859 – present.
