Physical Description: • Long slender body • Long thin tubular snout (mouth) • Head represents about 1/3 of the length • The upper jaw has no teeth • The lower jaw has tiny teeth • Prominent barbel at the tip of the lower jaw • Dorsal and AnaI fins

Locomotion: • Gentle undulations of the dorsal and anaI fins propel the fish forward or backward at a leisurely pace • The caudal fin (tail fin)is used for short bursts of speed • Pipette feeding- opens its mouth quickly which creates a vacuum that will suck up small fish and shrimps • They will hang vertically in the water column drifting with the current • They then ambush any prey unlucky enough to swim beneath them • Darting down from above and sucking the prey into their long snouts
