Austin-Putilovets — armored cars of the Russian Empire based on rear-wheel drive cargo chassis of the British firm “Austin”. The name reflects the difference between these armored cars and the Austin armored cars, built in the UK for the Russian Army in 1914-1917 and used by it during the First World War.
Austin-Putilovets was designed at the Putilov plant at the end of 1916, but production began only after the October Revolution, when the Russian Empire had already ceased to exist. In total, 33 armored cars of this type were built in 1918-1920, which were used by the Red Army in the Civil War and the War with Poland. Also, some of them (captured armored vehicles) were used by the White Army and the Polish Army, already against the Red Army.
