Australopithecus afarensis is one of the longest-lived early hominin species, existing between 2.95 and 3.85 million years ago. It is also well-known because scientists have found fossils representing more than 300 individuals, including the famous Lucy discovered in 1974. The species is also known for the footprints at Laetoli, Tanzania (3.6mya).
This skull measures approximately 6.5” long x 6” high, with a width of about 5”. The cranial capacity for this species was between 380 - 430cc.
