This is a 3D model of a handmade boomerang from Australia. Boomerangs are a cultural symbol of Australia, originating from their deep aboriginal history and heritage. They serve various purposes, from being used for hunting as well as sport. They are also commonly sold as souvenirs for tourists today. This particular model was a gift and a souvenir from Blue Mountains, Sydney.
I produced it using photogrammetry techniques. I took photos of the object against a white background from all directions, and utilised Agisoft Photoscan software to align the photographs and create two separate chunks of the front and back of the boomerang. Finally, I combined the two chunks using marker points to align them, and created the final product with a texture.
The object is 37 cm long (length of base),10cm tall, and has a width of 4cm at the base.
