Avadlek Spit, Qikiqtaruk/Herschel Island, Yukon

Avadlek Spit is located on the western end of Qikiqtaruk. It is a narrow aand sandy spit that at one time was jointed to the main island. The spit contains dozens of cultural features associated with Thule and Inuvialuit occupations in the region. Euro-American whalers also briefly used the spit before moving to Simpson Point/Pauline Cove on the opposite end of the island.
