More model informationIn Avenches, a small town between Berne and Lausanne, the modern visitor will be surprised to find roman spolia in the Marie-Madeleine church, constructed during the beginning of the 18th century. Two roman-corinthian geison blocks are found at the church’s southern corners, facing upside-down. They originate from the roughly 500m distant Cigognier sanctuary, whose construction started at the very end of the 1st century AD, and which is the largest temple of Aventicum.
