Comment: Test unit excavated by the 2022 UNC Archaeological Field School to assess possible precontact period cultural deposits on the floodplain of Eno River at Ayr Mount. The unit contained a single zone of plowed soil underlain by clay subsoil and a large, irregular disturbance of darker mottled soil interpreted as a tree disturbance. The excavation of the plowed soil yielded a sparse collection of Late Woodland potsherds and flakes, as well as later nineteenth-century ceramics, glass, brick, and iron fragments. Model by Steve Davis.
