3D scan of a frozen Southern three-banded armadillo, also known as Azara’s domed armadillo (Tolypeutes matacus). These animals live in South America and can be found in Bolivia, Brazil, Argentina and Paraguay. They can be as long as 25 centimeters and weigh up to 2 kilograms. It is the only armadillo species that can roll up into a complete ball, as shown in this 3D model.
This particular armadillo will be mounted by our taxidermists to be part of an upcoming exhibition at the NHM Vienna in 2022.
