Backgammon is a two-player board game played with counters and dice on table boards. It is the most widespread Western member of the large family of table games, whose ancestors date back nearly 5,000 years to the regions of Mesopotamia and Persia.
Backgammon was a popular game in Flanders in the 17th century, so chances are high it was played in the Swan Inn in Ename in 1665. The setup is based upon a backgammon board at the Rijksmuseum
