In order to animate T7 bacteriophage “walking” across the cell (see reference below), we attempted to rig the EMD 5535 structure using character animation techniques in 3DS Max.

First test was to see how the model performed when human motion capture data was applied. http://www.sketchfabforscience.com/animation-of-t7-bacteriophage-using-cryo-em-data/

We exported the animation sequence into Sketchfab, as shown here.
