More model informationA few metres beyond the Arinaban head dyke and the Eastern Harbour there is the ruin of a late Mediaeval farmstead. This ruin has been almost entirely buried for decades under dense bracken and thick brambles, which have now been cleared to allow the creation of this model.
Impossible to be certain of age without excavation and ? C14 testing. However, the general footprint and the enormous size of some of the stonework - several of the stones can be estimated at 2-3 tons - suggests that this is mediaeval, but may indeed be occupying an earlier site. The site is immediately below a rocky escarpment, possibly apragmatic loxation so that stones might be dslodged and fall to the construction site.
