More model informationThe sitting bear in the city park Melk was a commissioned work for the “Werkbundausstellung” in 1908, which Franz Barwig carved from Swedish granite. The sculpture stood in 1911 in the “Sezessionausstellung”, then at the Lower Belvedere as the property of the Austrian Gallery of the Kunsthistorisches Museum. Since 1966 there is a copy of the bear in the city park Melk.
