More model informationPortrait like sculpture of the head of a man in basalt with strongly modeled features. The top, back and ears are missing. Below the location of the left ear is a protruding sub-square lobe which may be the remains of hair or headdress. The base of the head is broken so it’s difficult to assess whether this may once have been part of a larger figurative statue.
It has been assigned a date in the Middle Kingdom, in particular, the 11th or 12th dynasties when Thebes was the reigning capital.
