Bastion Carolus Undecimus Rex - Interior

Modellen avbildar krutrummet i bastion Carolus Undecimus Rex vid Esperantoplatsen i Göteborg. Bastionen uppfördes redan på slutet av 1600-talet men krutrummet anlades först på 1770-talet. I samband med en större renovering av anläggningen framtogs det äldre originalgolvet. Golvet har ursprungligen fungerat som ett undergolv. På murfoten runt rummets sidor har urspungligen kraftiga bjälkar vilat som underlag för ett plankgolv.

The gunpowder room in the bastion Carolus Undecimus Rex, located at Esperantoplatsen, Gothenburg city, Sweden. The bastion was built at the end of the 1600’s, but the gunpowder room wasn’t constructed until later in the 1770’s. During a recent renovation of the gunpowder room, the original stone flooring was uncovered. At the transition between the gunpowder room and the corridor the shift between floors is visible. Wooden planks that rested at the foot of the wall used to cover the stone flooring.
