Bay of Garth (Ness of Garth) promontory fort, Sandness, Shetland Isles, Scotland.
Coastal erosion appears to have cut this fort off from the land (at high tide), three drystone walls/ramparts protect the landward side of the site. Within the fort there are a turf covered walls of a series of rectangular and oval shaped structures. This type of site normally dates to the Iron Age. Recent erosion (observed September 2015) at the southwestern corner of the site has revealled a section through the inner rampart and some of the other archaeological layers surrounding it.
