Inspired by the diverse architecture of Chester, I continued modeling the buildings around Bridgegate with the Grade I listed building of Bear and Billet. First built in 1664 as the town house of the Earls of Shrewsbury, now a popular pub house, the building has been described as “the finest 17th-century timber-framed town house in Chester” and “one of the last of the great timber-framed town houses in England”. It is constructed in timber framing with plaster panel and the popular during the medieval times space saving jettied storeys.
For creating the model, I used photographic references and for the finer details, I drew the patterns and silhouettes. I modeled the building in 3ds Max and created all details and effects through modeling. I wanted to model all details for this building instead of using alpha and normal maps, and so to see the results of the different approaches, and present the model suitable for architectural visualisation.
