The artifacts recovered from Russell Cave show us its inhabitants were concerned with more than just hunting and survival. They were also concerned with how they looked. Several ornamental and decorative objects have been unearthed as well, such as this intricately carved bone pendant made from a black bear’s canine tooth. Other ornamental objects from the site include perforated woodchuck teeth and shell beads which could be strung on a necklace.
