More model informationIn Middle Ages, honey was the only available sweetener in Europe. More important, honey was also used intensively to preserve dried fruit, so that it could be eaten in winter. There is little medieval documentation on beekeeping, most of we know comes from the Byzantine Empire. This virtual reconstruction is based upon a beehive stall in Campus Galli. In this park, historical techniques are tested and shown to the public.
This beehive stall is part of the virtual reconstruction of the medieval trade settlement of Ename, Flanders in 1020
