Bewick Woodblock Carving 3D Model
A scan of a woodblock carving from the workshop of Thomas Bewick, a pioneer of the artform. The carving was done by an unknown worker from his shop. The model was created by combining photogrammetry processed with Agisoft Photoscan and structured light scanning from an HP 3D Scan Pro S3. The scans were combined using Geomagic Design X and textured with Photoscan. Prints from this block would have looked something like this:
These scans are a part of a series of Victorian woodblocks being studied by Dr. Michael Hancher of the UMN English department. The blocks are part of the collections held by the Special Collections and Rare Books unit of the University of Minnesota Libraries.
Scans were made in AISOS, a part of LATIS Labs in the College of Liberal Arts at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities.
