Bilge pump Upper Valve (BOQ17-094.2)

Archaeological works carried out in 2016 between Largo Conde Barão and Boqueirão do Duro, on the western side of Lisbon waterfront, revealed maritime contexts from the 17th and 18th centuries, which included the remains of ship timbers reused in port structures. Among these were several ships bilge pump tubes, one of which preserved inside this upper valve, which was part of the water drainage system.
