More model informationBirch Bark Basket, Rosalie Andrew, Cold Lake First Nation, Denesųłiné, circa 1940.
This small berry basket is made from birch bark with seams perfectly stitched with spruce root. The leaf design on the front of the basket and the butterfly on the lid are made using dyed spruce root. The edging of this basket is very unusual, with layers of colourful plastic lacing, spruce root, and possibly bird quills interwoven to create a striking effect. The basket was purchased by the donor from the Beaver Crossing general store around 1940.
