In the years before the Catholic Emancipation, most of the Roman Catholics lived north of the Central Belt in Scotland. Bishop Kyle was responsible for much of the administration of the Church in Scotland and conducted it from his base in Preshome near Buckie in the early part of the 19th century. The Latin-shaped chasuble has a polychrome design of roses with a raised leaf in gold. The front orphrey echoes the main design and is edged with gilt braid. The rear orphrey shows a silver rose wreath with a cross and superimposed upon it, the Lamb of God on the Book with Seven Seals, worked in silver threads, silver stampings and cloth of gold and gold stampings. It is probably French in origin and dates from the mid-19th century. This object belongs to the Scottish Catholic Heritage Collections Trust, T8250begBLRBM
