3D scan of a miniature Bjorn the Fellhanded Warhammer 40k Dreadnought painted by a talented artist and skilled game industry professional from North Carolina. For this one, he went with lots of gold to make it feel more like an ancient artifact opposed to the pantied iconography.
Interred in a custom-built Dreadnought, Bjorn is a legendary figure amongst the Space Wolves, for he fought in the Horus Heresy amongst the retinue of Leman Russ himself. Bjorn the Fell-Handed is the oldest warrior in the Imperium, serving first as a warrior, then as Wolf Lord, and finally a Dreadnought, to this day he is the spiritual and moral compass for the entire Chapter.
The original 14-mil 3D model was created from 200 photos of the miniature using Reality Capture, and cleaned, simplified, retextured and exported from it. This approach does not give the same level of topology and unwrap as the manually altered models, but using RC tools, it takes only 1-2 hours to get a complete model versus days alternatively.
