A practice model I made to showcase my progress in 3D art. I based this character on how I imagined the members of the Black Company from Glen Cook’s Black Company book series looked like: Lightly armored, relying more on trickery and deception than physical prowess, gruff and unkempt but always practical.
Created as a game asset, I tried to keep it under 20k polygons. The animations are hand made using Cascadeur, with a swashbuckling fencing style in mind. Retopology and skin painting done in Maya, high poly model in Zbrush. Textures were made in Substance 3D Painter.
Some improvements from the last version include the addition of a short cape with joint physics, redid the texturing and proportions of the model, Improved the face and hair, and modified it to work with the Unreal 4 skeleton
