Black Bear Demon, also known as Bear Monster and Black Wind Monster, is a character in the classic novel “Journey to the West”.

Black Bear Demon lives in Black Wind Cave on Black Wind Mountain, about 20 miles south of Guanyin Temple. He likes to preach, meditate and make elixirs. He made friends with Elder Jinchi of Guanyin Temple. When he saw the fire in Guanyin Temple, he rushed to put out the fire immediately, but after seeing the Buddha’s treasure, Jinlan cassock, he became greedy and stole the cassock.
