More model information

Model SC-363 of the Harvard Museum of Comparative Zoology Collection of Blaschka Marine Invertebrates. This is a glass model of a Greater Argonaut or Paper Nautilus (Argonauta argo, described by Linnaeus as early as 1758). The Encyclopedia of Life (https://eol.org/pages/2318) states that this cephalopod is found in tropical and sub-tropical waters throughout the world. This small (4-5 cm) model of a male Argonaut is one of thousands made by Rudolf and Leopold Blaschka as educational models in the late 1800s. The photogrammetry was done with 405 photographs shot in 2 orientations. The model was processed with Agisoft Photoscan and post-processed with Blender to define different surface materials. With thanks to Prof. James Hanken (Curator) and Jon Woodward (Collections operations) for access to the models and description information. (Model argo3d)
