The Stonehenge Riverside Project 2009, concentrated at the riverside end of the Avenue which leads up to Stonehenge. In Trenches 51 and 60 the pits that once contained stones that were removed and transported elsewhere were found. The site became known as Bluestonehenge and is thought to have been one of the first settings of the smaller stones from Wales, after being transported to Wiltshire and before then being moved to Stonehenge itself.
This model was created retrospectively using the end of excavation pole-cam photos taken in September 2009, just before the site was closed and backfilled. Recent reprocessing has increased point density and accuracy, but also highlighted areas with missing detail (lack of imagery).
