It has enhanced powertrains and chassis tuning compared to the standard 7-Series. The M short is powered by a twin-turbocharged V8 engine producing over 600 horsepower paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission. It has stiffer suspension tuning and larger brakes for improved handling.
Exterior design cues distinguish it from the standard 7-Series. These include larger front air intakes, a rear spoiler, dual exhaust tips, and standard 21-inch wheels or optional 22-inch wheels. The front grille is also larger with horizontal slats.

Pricing is significantly higher than a standard 7-Series. Pricing for the BMW 7-Series M short has not been announced yet but is expected to start well above $100,000 given its performance enhancements over the standard 740i model.
