More model informationThis carving of a boar can be found outside St Mary’s parish church in Barnard Castle, beside the east window of the south transept. In 1475, Richard III became Lord of Barnard Castle and he undertook significant building work at and around the church. His personal badge was a boar and it is likely that his carving is a connection to the later king’s activities at the church. The model was created by George Hodgson.
