More model informationBob Dylan’s 1964 Fender Stratocaster, known as the “Dylan Goes Electric” guitar, earned its iconic status at the Newport Folk Festival on July 25, 1965. Dylan plugged in and played “Maggie’s Farm” electrified on this guitar. This performance drew a line in the sand between Dylan as a folk icon and the direction that Dylan was going with a more aggressive electrified rock sound. His 1965 Newport Folk Festival performance is among not only Dylan’s most important performances, but it is considered by many to be among the most important performances of the 20th Century.
