This is a model of a Bolt-action crossbow made for the Artstation challenge “Medieval back and forth” for real time game prop art. The challenge encompasses both modern and medieval styles, as if people could travel from the medival period to the present and vice versa.

This model is the first of 3 props that I needed to design for the challenge and I wanted to go for a mix of modern looks and mechanics on a medieval weapon, so I chose a bolt-action rifle in the style of a crossbow.

The crossbow uses a moterized steel wire as the bow-string to provide idea tautness and superior power to a regular crossbow. I also designed the bolt to look similar to a bullet to encompass the modern to medieval look by giving the shaft a brass look instead of the regular wooden one.
