More model informationThe Bond Wheeler Site (8FL929) was found eroded from a beach in north Flagler County during the Christmas holiday of 2017. Archaeologists from the St. Augustine Lighthouse & Maritime Museum and the Florida Public Archaeology Network worked to record the site over four days in January. The wreckage appears to have come from a late nineteenth century sailing vessel, likely a fishing schooner, that may have sunk offshore and washed up on the beach in pieces years later. The bow section of the ship is important to archaeologists since this portion of historic wooden vessels does not often survive in the archaeological record.
