It is made up of 8 paired (parietal, temporal, nasal, lacrimal, maxillae, zygomatic, inferior nasal conchae, palatine) and 6 unpaired bones (frontal, ethmoid, occipital, mandible, sphenoid, vomer) for a total of 22.
