This fresco depicts the Biblical scene of the annunciation, wherein the angel Gabriel tells the Virgin Mary that she will give birth to the Christ Child. It was painted by Sandro Botticelli in 1481on the loggia in the Hospital of San Martino alla Scala. This piece currently resides in the Uffizi Galleries in Florence, Italy.
