Bowblade - DAE WeaponCraft - WoW Styled Bow

A World of Warcraft themed bow I made as an assignment for the course Game Art 1 at Digital Arts & Entertainment, Belgium.

The weapon is a combination of a bow and a double sided sword, useful in both ranged and close combat. I wanted to make the design curvy and elegant so it feel like a powerful bow, while still keeping that bulky WoW-style.

The texturing process was the most tricky, as I didn’t have much experience with hand-painted texturing. I went with a mostly monochromatic fire-styled color scheme, and a gradient pointing towards the center of the bow & the two front blades.

This was modelled in Maya and handpainted in Photoshop. Flat lighting is used, as all lighting information is painted into the texture. Some extra renders can be found on my Artstation.
