“Platygyra lamellina, the hard brain coral, is a species of colonial stony coral in the family Merulinidae. It occurs on reefs in shallow water in the Indo-Pacific region. The International Union for Conservation of Nature has assessed its conservation status as being “near threatened” - Wikipedia
This brain coral was located on the southern side of the coral garden known as Siete Pecados off the coast of Coron, Philippines. The pictures (59) were taken with a GoPro Hero 3+ with 12 megapixel/wide settings and were not corrected for their barrel/fisheye distortion. Afterwards the photos were resized using Image Resizer.
The sparse/dense clouds were created using VisualSFM, and imported into Meshlab where the dense cloud was cleaned and a Poisson mesh was generated, followed by texture mapping.
